ZEBx partners with BCIT and three CO2-based DHW heat pump suppliers to present a three-part, in-person Technology Demonstration Series workshops taking place from Feb to Apr 2022.
As we move up the BC Energy Step Code ladder while cutting back on operational emissions, we can’t lose sight of embodied carbon If you’ve been reading ZEBx’s case studies on high-performance buildings, you may have noticed a recurring theme. Heat pumps are being used to generate domestic hot water. As more and more regulations target emissions reductions, this will become far more common. Not all DHW heat pumps are created equal though. Some use refrigerants with high global warming potential, while other heat pumps use refrigerants with ultra-low GWP like CO2.
This inaugural demonstration workshop focused on the Lync Aegis heat pump water heater – a new arrival to the BC heat pump scene. Lync by Watts is a new brand, launched as a sister-company to PVI & AERCO under the Watts Heating & Hot Water Solutions umbrella. The Lync brand focuses on packaged systems with integrated components, designed & controlled to work together. The flagship model of the Lync brand is the Aegis commercial heat pump water heater. Riada Sales Inc. is Lync’s representative firm in Western Canada, specializing in providing high quality HVAC equipment, instrumentation, and plumbing products since 1995.
Brian Cummings, Product Manager for Lync, provided a technical overview of the heat pump and answered questions following the presentation. The presentation slides are available via the link at the top of this page.
