About
The second ZEBx tour of 2025 offered attendees a firsthand look at an all-electric duplex in Vancouver, designed by Scott Kennedy of Cornerstone Architecture. The project is designed to meet both the Passive House standard and the top step of the Zero Carbon Step Code—showcasing the cutting edge of residential sustainable design.
Participants explored the nearly complete all-electric building, which integrates a range of the latest cleantech solutions. These include a Longi solar array paired with an EG4 battery system, enabling the duplex to achieve net zero energy performance. Ventilated interior doors by VanAir, an Innova Vertical HRA-i Plus unit for heating, cooling, ventilation, and filtration, and a SANCO2 CO₂-based heat pump water heater all contribute to the building’s impressive efficiency. Additionally, exceptional building envelope performance will be achieved with features like Innotech triple-glazed windows, 12” of under-slab EPS foam, Quadlock ICF foundation walls, and dense-packed cellulose insulation ensuring long-term energy savings and comfort.
This tour highlighted what’s possible when innovation, thoughtful design, and high-performance materials come together in residential construction.
