Recently, TSBC issued an information bulletin regarding a new way of calculating a dwelling’s maximum demand load using 12 months of utility bills and a 25% safety factor. This will go a long way in avoiding expensive electrical service and panelboard upgrades when decarbonizing a home with additional electrical loads like a heat pump. But that’s not all you can do! You can also add a load-sharing device or a smart panelboard. These devices control the peak load that is drawn from individual circuits and/or the entire electrical panel.
