EGBC: DEEP CARBON REDUCTION RETROFITS OF COMMERCIAL, INSTITUTIONAL, AND MULTI-UNIT RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS
Decarbonization, electrification, and climate resilience are quickly becoming a common part of our lexicon as building owners across BC and the world start to take aggressive and urgent action to curb emissions from buildings. Existing buildings have posed a particular challenge when it comes to trying to retrofit low carbon solutions. This presentation will discuss some of the emerging regulations and certifications around carbon emissions from existing buildings as well as discussing retrofit pathways for achieving deep carbon reductions in Part 3 buildings, with a particular focus on energy efficiency and low carbon electrification. We’ll also discuss several case studies from BC-based projects where retrofit solutions have led to significant reductions in building GHG emissions.
